"Timing is Everything” Validation Survey

The IRS, Employee Plans Customer Education and Outreach, is accepting suggestions from the benefit community about their publication “Timing is Everything” (TIE) in order to make the publication. They have asked us to help with the collection of information via a survey they have designed.

“Timing is Everything” (TIE) is currently found as an insert at the end of the IRS publication “Retirement News for Employers” (RNE) which can be found on-line at:  http://www.irs.gov/retirement/article/0,,id=122823,00.html. For the most recent issue, click here and look at the last page.

The IRS would like to know how TIE is being used by employers to communicate with their employees.

1. Is TIE being posted/used? (Circle your choice)

  • on bulletin boards,
  • as a payroll stuffer,
  • as a handout or
  • being used in some other fashion: _________________________________

2. If TIE is not being used, what’s the reason it’s not being used?  (Circle your choice)

  • Is it because there is no centralized posting area, or

  • Is it too time consuming and/or costly to distribute copies to employees? or

  • Is it that you don’t find the information useful for employees?

3. Currently the format is a one letter-sized page with plain black text.  Would a change in the format by adding color and/or graphics be more preferable, for example would it be better as? (Circle your choice)

  • A brief article format rather than the current bulleted points, or
  • Do you have any other suggestions in format changes or
  • Are there topics that would make the TIE more relevant to your needs?
